B-A-R-D is short for Bardash, my surname, and a reminder that illustration is fundamentally about telling stories. Here's a little bit of mine.
I learned to read early and spent most of my childhood living inside books. The illustrations in those books mattered as much as the words — sometimes more — and made me want to create art myself. That's more or less how it started.
I'm a Melbourne-based illustrator now, working with expressive characters, warm colour, and small details that tell a story. I have a soft spot for traditional materials — gouache, coloured pencils, oil pastel — where happy accidents are part of the process. I work digitally too, but the handmade quality is what I'm always chasing.
